CHRISTMAS IN ENGLAND

On 26th December 2017, the students of Primary School 'Đura Jakšić' presented Christmas Customs and Christmas Traditions in England and English speaking countries. The teachers and students who attended this event learned when the English celebrate Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, what the traditional Christmas dinner consists of, about the origins of Boxing Day, the names of Santa’s reindeer, why people in England hang Christmas stockings on a mantle, why mistletoe is so important, and how Christmas crackers work. They read Christmas cards and listened to traditional Christmas carols such as 'Silent Night' and 'Jingle Bells'. They also had the opportunity to read the NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS that the students of our school made. This is a tradition in which a person resolves to change an undesired trait or behavior, to accomplish a personal goal or otherwise improve their life. Our students resolved to be better people in 2018, help more at home, be better at sport, learn more languages, read and study more, improve their grades, travel more, fall in love, be more responsible, eat healthier food, be less nervous and more positive.
